Lock down Blogs Lewisham food bank

The people in the picture above are just a few of the many volunteers who have helped so many during Lockdown. Lewisham Foodbank is based just behind Forest Hill fire station at The Hope Centre, which up until lockdown had so many great things happening. A weekly drop in for older people as well as lovely meals being given away by one of the local church groups. A lot has been put on hold for now but I'm sure they will be back and are missed by so many.  Working flat out every day Lewisham Foodbank volunteers deserve recognition for the work they are doing. The Senior Project Manager of Foodbank is Carol Bostridge or ‘Bish' as I like to call her (she really is a Bishop). She has been there from the start working with the Trussell Trust and they now have 250 volunteers on the books.  Each day volunteer shoppers and drivers go out and buy food with the huge amount of money raised already by our Mayor Damien Egan. Lockdown!  its been four months. I don’t know about you but theres been lots of ups and downs. I’m just going to concentrate on the nice stuff if thats ok with you.  The response from organisations like Lewisham Local, Lewisham Food bank, Evelyn Community Store, Lewisham Irish Centre, Catford Fridge and so many more has been amazing. members of the public volunteering and really stepping up to help hundreds of people all over the borough. More about them throughout the week. Our mayor raised so much for Lewisham Food bank which has been much needed as they are spending thousands of pounds every week feeding so many. Shops and local businesses have also joined in giving away free bread, eggs , pizzas and all kinds of different freshly cooked meals, not only to the public but to the hospitals as well. the police and many others. Burdens of society

Its no great secret Conservatives think all disabled people are a burden on society, They have proved time and time again they don't want us around. The corona virus to them is just another excuse to kill more of us, while the rest of the country is getting help. All face to face assessments and help has been suspended. The disabled are left to snuggle on. over 100 MP's have asked the government to address this issue, only to be bombarded with the same old excuses. people having to claim universal credit for the first time are given an extra £20 a week to see them through the epidemic. Something I see as a ploy to make people think, this government cares about them. well let me tell you no they don't. As I write this buses are packed, tubes full up as people return to work. Brainwashed by the media and this government into believing its safe to do so. Every day we see stories of how badly this government are doing. Its all about the pound signs to them. Big busi
